San Francisco’s famous fog rolls in through the entrance to San Francisco Bay. The fog has been referred to as the city’s natural “Air Conditioning.”

General Sherman Tree
Sequoia National Park, California

the General Sherman tree, Sequoiadendron giganteum, is the largest living thing on planet earth. This giant sequoia stands 274.9 feet high, weighs 1385 tons and has a base diameter exceeding 36 feet. Between 2,300 years and 2,700 years old, the tree continues to prosper, adding about 40 cubic feet of wood to its immense bulk each year.

“This building was built in 1895 for a cost of $30,000 and stands as a memorial to pioneer education in Northern Minnesota. The first high school seniors from Northern Minnesota graduated in 1902. the original Itasca County school district no. 1 also had offices here.”

Aerial Lift Bridge

“The unique Aerial Lift Bridge and Ship Canal Entrance to Duluth-Superior Harbor is an outstanding attraction of this popular summer vacation city. Total bridge load lifted is 900 tons. Only 55 seconds are required to lift the span 135 feet. The Harbor is second only to that of New York City in shipping tonnage and through it passes about 60 per cent of America’s iron ore production, from the great iron ore ranges just north of Duluth.”
